CRUISE RECAP PT. 1

Here is Part One of my vacation recap! I originally was gong to do it in one big post but there was so many pictures even I got annoyed looking at it haha so I'm gonna break it up half way through the trip.

I personally think that cruises are the best vacations ever because you get relaxing days at seas along with multiple ports to explore the world! Is there anything better?

Conner and I went on a 7 day cruise on the Carnival Glory and our ports were Amber Cove, Dominican Republic, St Thomas, USVI, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Grand Turk.  It was really nice going on a 7 day cruise because we had 2 days at sea on our first and last days on the ship which allowed us to just relax and enjoy the ship.

Day One:

We flew in to Miami from Detroit early Saturday morning. We planned on using the cruise shuttle service to take us from the airport to the port and let me just say DON'T DO IT. Conner and I waited over 2 hours for the shuttle when it was supposed to come every 15 minutes. We ended up just ubering to the port which ended up being cheaper than what we paid for the shuttle.

Right when we got on the boat, we immediately got a drink haha. We both got Miami Vices because vacation right? We spent the rest of the afternoon exploring the boat and then settled at the adult only area to watch the boat leave. Conner described the style of the ship as "80's Vegas" themed and that does describe it perfectly. The bright colors and themes around the ship made the whole experience more fun.

I also highly recommend doing the alcohol package as well if you are going to go on a cruise. The price was around $50.00/day and most of the drinks were around $10.00 so as long as you were drinking at least 5 drinks a day, you definitely get your moneys worth.

Day Two:

This was our first day as Sea so we spent the whole day eating, drinking, and relaxing. Our ship had a sit down breakfast which included the yummiest breakfast foods. We typically went there every morning to get breakfast and mimosas. I had to include a solo picture of Conner in his cruise outfit because he was really feeling himself the entire trip.

This was the cruise's first elegant night so I dressed up in this dress from Back Row Boutique. It is my favorite flowy midi dress that can be dressed up or down. The dining room staff performed a dance to Justin Timberlake's "Can't Stop the Feeling" and it was awesome lol. The food was amazing and we got pretty lit at dinner! We went to this Piano Bar on the boat which included a circular bar where the piano player sat in the middle. He took songs on request and had everyone singing along. That bar was probably Conner and I's favorite area of the cruise. We did take it pretty easy this night however because we had to wake up really early the next morning for Dominican Republic.

Day Three:

Our first port was Amber Cove, Dominican Republic. We had to wake up superrr early because our excursion was at 7:30am. We decided to do a dune buggy excursion that took you through the mountains of DR and it was soo awesome. The staff was amazing and made you feel really safe. I let Conner do all of the driving which I was completely fine with. The trails took us all over the city and it was fun to get all muddy. Our tourguides let us stop at a local's house and he was kind enough to open us all coconuts so we could drink the fresh water.

We also stopped at a fresh water river to go swimming. The water was clear and fresh and it felt so nice to wash off all of the mud from before. I recommend reading all of the reviews for the excursions you book because that is where we learned that we would be stopping for a swim. It wasn't included in the original description so some people didn't wear bathing suits.

We ended the excursion back where we started and the company was nice enough to give us all free Dominican fried chicken and rum and cokes. It was the perfect way to end the morning since it was still so early!

Conner and I went back to the ship and quickly changed so we could explore the shops around the port. We were on a mission to buy matching fedoras and we ended up finding perfect ones. We ended the night just getting pizza from the 24 hours pizza joint. The pizza on the ship was amazing and we got it almost every night!

Conner's French Montana Impression lol^

Day Four:

Our second port was in St Thomas, USVI. We didn't have any excursion booked that day so we just decided to figure it out as we went. After getting off the boat, we hooked up with this group of 10 parents from Utah. They kind of took Conner and I under their wing and let us tag along with them to Koki Beach. The taxi's in St Thomas are insane we actually got in a minor car accident on the way to the beach. Our taxi barely hit this other guy's tire but it was super dramatic and made it an interesting way to start the day haha.

The beach we went to was super packed but we didn't mind. We got a nice old rum punch and plopped our towels under a tree. The water at this beach was beautiful and really nice to swim in. The view with the mountains in the back made it seem like we were in St. Lucia or something. After about an hour, it actually started down pouring. We didn't let that ruin our fun however! There was a DJ playing music and a bar so you can't really get better than that. We ended the night drinking and losing all of our money at the casino.

Day Five:

Our port this day was San Juan. Conner was really hungover this day so we didn't explore much. It was kind of rainy that day also so it made San Juan look kinda trashy. It just looked like a full on city and not a tropical paradise like we were used to. Oh well!!!

We basically just chilled all day and then got ready again for the second elegant night. This was our ~all white~ vibe night and I was feeling it. The dining staff performed again and the food was delicious per usual. After dinner, we hung out in the lobby bar where we got our favorite drink, the pom martini. It was super strong and super tasty. We again spent most of our night at the casino and piano bar.

I'm gonna share the rest of our trip on the next blog post!

I'm mostly recapping this for the mems but I appreciate everyone who is reading!

I'm going to link all outfit details on the next post.

xx,
Emily
